G-MAC Indoor Track & Field Preview (Feb. 6)

INDIANAPOLIS -- Indoor track and field action continues this weekend across the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC), as 12 conference programs are set to compete in meets spanning Friday and Saturday.

 

G-MAC Programs in Action

Nine G-MAC teams Tiffin, Lake Erie, Ohio Dominican, Malone, Ursuline, Cedarville, Findlay, Ashland, and Northwood will travel to Ashland, Ohio, for the Jud Logan Light Giver Ashland Open. This marks the first meet this season to feature nine G-MAC programs competing head-to-head.

Several teams will also send athletes to additional meets across the Midwest:

  • Findlay will compete at the Michigan Invitational in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

  • Northwood heads to Allendale, Michigan, for the Mike Lints Alumni Meet at Grand Valley State.

  • Ohio Dominican will send athletes to the Denison Bob Shannon Invitational in Granville, Ohio.

Recent Notable Performances:

  • Ramon Rodriguez (Sr., Tiffin) 7:58.26 in the 3000 meters men. 

  • Tyleik Maxwell (Fr., Lake Erie) 1.84 meters in men’s high jump. 

  • Virtner Crews (Jr., Ohio Dominican) 6.80 in the men’s 60 meters.

  • Brooklyn McIntyre (So., Malone) 1:23.38 in the 500 meter run.

  • Ursuline Women’s Distance Medley Relay with a time of 12:54.78.

  • Summer Swartwout (So., Cedarville) 24.51 in the women’s 200 meters. 

  • Leah Smith (Jr., Findlay) 24.23 in the women’s 200 meters.

  • Jon Lutz (Fr., Ashland) 7.95 in the men’s 60 meter hurdles.

  • Will Haw (Jr., Northwood) 1:52.69 in the men’s 800 meters. 

 

Walsh

 

Walsh will be the lone G-MAC program competing at the Doug Raymond Invitational in Kent, Ohio. The Cavaliers last competed at the Muskingum Muskie Meet #3, where eight athletes claimed event victories.

  • Tatum Miller (Jr.) 12.00 meters in the women’s shot put.

  • Oakley Kemp (Jr.) 6.57 meters in the men’s long jump.

  • Lara Hochdoeffer (Fr.) 5.11 meters in the women’s long jump.

 

Hillsdale

 

Hillsdale hosts the Indoor Mid-Week Multi #2 on Friday before sending athletes to the Michigan Invitational on Saturday. The Chargers will also close out the weekend with a group competing at the Mike Lints Alumni Meet at Grand Valley State.

  • Lucy Minning (Sr.) 24.88 in the women’s 200 meters. 

  • Francesca Federici (Sr.) 57.73 in the women’s 400 meters. 

  • Ross Kuhn (Sr.) 4:02.42 in the men’s mile. 

 

Thomas More

 

Thomas More travels to Cincinnati, Ohio, for the MSJ Alumni Invite. The Saints are coming off the Wittenberg Steemer Showcase, where multiple athletes recorded personal-best performances. 

 

Recent Highlights:

  • Marcus Johnson (Sr.) 7.00 in the men’s 60 meters. 

  • Campbell Gerling (Fr.) 2:23.67 in the women’s 800 meters.

  • Savannah Faught (Sr.) 18:32.31 in the women’s 5000 meters.
