Great Midwest Announces Indoor Track & Field End of the Year Honors

3.25.26

INDIANAPOLIS- The Great Midwest Athletic Conference announced the all-conference and end of the year awards for the 2025-26 indoor track & field season.

It was another banner season for G-MAC member institutions as over 50 student-athletes from the league qualified for the NCAA Championships in Virginia Beach to transition to the outdoor season. Of those 50 student-athletes, four individuals left Virginia as National Champions.

The Great Midwest Indoor Track & Field Championships were once again housed at Ashland’s Niss Athletic Center as the Eagles swept both the men and women’s team titles. The women completed a three-peat with 179.5 total points. The Ashland men won their first G-MAC indoor title, totaling 140 points. At the helm of Ashland Track & Field is head coach A.G. Kruger, who was voted as the men’s and women’s coach of the year by his peers. Kruger led the Eagle women to a No. 7 national ranking heading into the national championship meet, while the men were slotted at No.14. In total 14 AU student-athletes qualified for the national meet in Virginia Beach, while two of those 14 took home national championship honors. Most recently, 17 student-athletes from Ashland earned USTFCCCA All-Region honors heading into the outdoor season.

The all-conference teams are composed of a first and second team, with the top finish in either track or field event taking priority if a student-athlete was entered in multiple events.

The head coaches also voted their picks for the end of the year awards, separate from the meet awards that were presented on-site.

Ashland’s Jon Lutz won the Freshman and Track Athlete of the Year award after claiming the gold in the 60-meter hurdles. Lutz clocked a time of 7.67, surpassing both the G-MAC and Ashland program record.

On the women’s side, Allison Kuzma was voted the top track athlete after also capturing her first-ever national championship title. The sophomore captured the title in the 5,000m run, shattering the program record by over 15 seconds. Kuzma currently sits at first and second in the G-MAC record books in the event. Her top time in the event is 15.58.57.

Hillsdale took home two national champions as Ben Haas found himself atop the podium in the weight throw for the second consecutive year. He heaved a winning throw of 22.97 meters, breaking his own record at the event. His mark solidified him as the fourth-farthest weight thrower in Division II history.

Leslie Pollock was voted the top field athlete for the women after winning her first ever national championship in the weight throw. Pollock recorded a throw of 21.05m to win the gold and earn all-American status.

Anna Roessner of Hillsdale was voted the top freshman on the women’s side. In her rookie season, Roessner won the 60m dash at the conference championship and went on to qualify for the Division II National Championship. She also placed second in the 200 and ran a leg of the 4x400, that placed third at the conference meet.

Student-athletes will now gear up for outdoor season, with the championship set to take place in Hillsdale, MI.
