EVANSVILLE, Ind.- Ben Haas, Allison Kuzma, and Leslie Pollock have all been crowned National Champions on day one of the 2026 Division II Indoor Track & Field Championship meet.
Haas captured the weight throw title at the 2026 NCAA Division II Indoor Championships, becoming the only male in G-MAC history to win two indoor titles. A three-time all-American in the weight throw and the top seed coming into the national meet, Haas all but ended the competition on his third throw, shattering his own personal best as well as G-MAC record with a mark of 22.97m. Only one other individual surpassed the 22.00m mark at the meet.Haas will look to continue his success tomorrow, competing in the shot put during day two of competition.
Allison Kuzma is coming off of two first-place finishes at the G-MAC championship, where she won the 3,000m and 5,000m races. At nationals, Kuzma clocked a 15:58.57 time in the 5,000m run, crushing the G-MAC record and earning her first-ever national championship title. The sophomore cruised to the finish line, nearly 20 seconds ahead of the runner-up.
Leslie Pollock of Ashland came into the national meet ranking second in the nation in the weight throw, behind teammate Molly Winner. Pollock showed out today, heaving a mark of 21.05m to surpass Winner and win her first national championship title. Pollock earned first all-American citation, while Winner tabbed her fifth.
Other top performers from day one include Walsh's Joel Brown who remains at the top of the men's heptahtlon standings as well as Ashland's Brayden Jackson who finished in a tie for fourth place in the pole vault.
