Hillsdale's Haas Repeats as G-MAC Athlete of the Year

7.7.26

INDIANAPOLIS- After a decisive vote from the league’s Sports Information Directors, Hillsdale’s Ben Haas was officially labeled Athlete of the Year for the second consecutive year. Haas becomes just the third student-athlete to win the award in back-to-back years, alongside former Findlay golfer Mary Kelly Mulcahy and Cedarville track & field standout Carsyn Koch Johnson.

Haas wraps up a historic track and field career at Hillsdale, with two national championship titles in the weight throw. He was named the USTFCCCA National Field Athlete of the year for the 2026 indoor season, which is conference’s first winner since 2019. Haas winning mark of 22.97 meters shattered the G-MAC record and ranks fourth in the DII record books.

During the 2025-26 academic year, Haas garnered four conference titles in the weight throw, hammer throw, and shot put. He added six Athlete of the Week honors throughout the year, to total 15 for his career.

He leaves Hillsdale with eight all-American honors, three national titles, and four straight G-MAC weight throw titles.
