ASHLAND, Ohio- For now four years straight, Ashland University and the Niss Athletic Center will serve as the host site for the 2026 Great Midwest Athletic Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships. The two-day long fight to be crowned a champion will begin on Friday, Feb. 27 and go through Feb. 28.
The official conference championship page includes links for the schedule of events, heat sheets, live results, and live video, as well as facility and admission information.
The 2025-26 edition marks the 12th annual G-MAC Indoor Track & Field Championship since the sport was first announced as a championship sport during the 2014-15 academic year. Findlay and Tiffin hold the most Men's Indoor Track & Field titles with four apiece.
At the 2025 G-MAC Track & Field Championships, the Tiffin Dragons men’s team and the Ashland Eagles women’s team were declared Great Midwest Champions. Tiffin racked up 162 team points in their first-place finish, while the Eagles tallied up 191.5 on the women’s side.
For individual awards, the conference will see the return of Men’s Field Athlete of the Year (Ben Haas, Hillsdale) and Women’s Field Athlete of the Year (Molly Winner, Ashland).
The top finishers of each event will receive all-conference honors and “of the meet” awards will be awarded to the highest point-getters at the end of the championship. At this event, the Great Midwest Elite 26 award winners will be honored. In 2025, Gabe Clement of Findlay won on the men’s side and Isabelle Rammell of Walsh was honored on the women’s side.
Throughout this season on the men’s side, several athletes have elevated the competition by improving upon some of the top marks in the G-MAC. In the men’s 3,000-meter run, Tiffin will rely on standout Ramon Rodriguez, whose time of 7:58.26 ranks No. 1 all-time in conference history. Meanwhile, Cedarville’s men’s 4x400-meter relay team enters the weekend aiming for a championship as they hold the all-time G-MAC record with a time of 3:09.80.
Findlay will also look for strong performances in the men’s pole vault, where four athletes rank among the top six in the conference this season. On the women’s side, the Oilers are just as dominant, with three athletes positioned within the top four in the conference standings.
In the distance events, the men’s mile is shaping up to be a tight battle between Tiffin and Hillsdale, who hold the top times in the G-MAC this season. On the women’s side, the mile will feature another strong showdown, as Cedarville and Findlay enter with the conference’s leading marks.
On the women’s side, the 60-meter sprint is expected to be one of the closest races of the meet. Hillsdale’s Anna Roessner leads the way with a time of 7.36, closely followed by Findlay’s Leah Smith at 7.37. The depth in the event is just as impressive, as everyone ranked inside the top five has posted a time of 7.60 or faster this season. That group includes Tiffin’s Nevaeh Lewis (7.41), Cedarville’s Summer Swartwout (7.42), and Ashland’s Hailey Rios (7.60).
Nearly all of the student-athletes in the women’s 60-meter dash also hold top times in the 200-meter dash, looking to grab more than just one medal.
On the distance side, the men’s competition has been headlined all season by Tiffin’s Ramon Rodriguez. The Dragon owns the top times in the G-MAC in the mile, 3,000-meter, and 5,000-meter, establishing himself as the runner to beat. Earlier this year, Rodriguez put on a dominant performance in the 3,000-meter, posting a time nearly 24 seconds faster than any other competitor in the conference.
The 60-meter hurdles promise to be an exciting event this weekend, with seven athletes already meeting the qualifying mark. Ashland’s Jon Lutz leads the field with a time of 7.88, while teammate Ty Allen sits close behind at 7.97, giving the Eagles a strong presence at the top. On the women’s side, Ashland’s Odessa Smith sets the pace with a leading time of 8.59. Tiffin’s Mikelia Strong is not far behind, clocking in at 8.66 to set up what should be a competitive showdown.
Once again, both the men’s and women’s relays are expected to be highly competitive. On the men’s side, Ashland, Tiffin, and Cedarville headline the 4x400-meter relay, while Northwood and Ashland set the pace in the distance medley relay. In the women’s 4x400, the race could come down to the wire, with Findlay and Ashland separated by just six seconds entering the weekend. The women’s distance medley relay is currently led by Ashland, which holds the top conference time of 11:43.46.
In the field events, five different G-MAC programs currently hold top marks, highlighting the depth across the conference. Cedarville is led by Matthew Schaeckenbach, who tops the men’s high jump at 2.14 meters, and Josh Paul, who leads the men’s triple jump with a mark of 14.81 meters. Findlay also boasts three top performances in the field. Ashley Sigmon leads the women’s high jump with a clearance of 1.68 meters, while Jessica Hoban’s 12.01-meter mark in the women’s triple jump is the standard to beat. On the men’s side, Eyan Wilson holds the top spot in the shot put with a throw of 18.04 meters. Ashland matches that presence with three leading marks of its own, including Brayden Jackson in the men’s pole vault (5.31 meters), Hailey Rios in the women’s pole vault (5.77 meters), and Molly Winner in the women’s weight throw (21.45 meters). Hillsdale is equally strong in the field, highlighted by Ben Haas’ conference-leading 22.31-meter throw in the men’s weight throw. Tara Townsend leads the women’s pole vault at 4.20 meters, while Amelia Lutz sits atop the women’s shot put with a mark of 16.42 meters. Rounding out the field leaders, Tiffin’s Reggie Rogers holds the top mark in the men’s long jump with a leap of 7.31 meters.
One field event to keep a close eye on this weekend is the women’s pole vault, where seven athletes have already hit the Division II qualifying mark. Findlay has been especially dominant, claiming four of those seven spots, and the Oilers will be aiming for a clean sweep when competition begins.
