ASHLAND, Ohio- The Tiffin men and Ashland women were crowned 2024 Great Midwest Indoor Track & Field Champions Saturday (Feb. 24) afternoon. This is the third title for the Dragons and the first for the Eagles.
Tiffin racked up 147 team points in their first place finish while Ashland tabbed 148.50 on the women’s side.
For the men, Tiffin totaled five student-athletes on the first-team all-conference list, including first place finishes in the 400 meter dash, 60 meter dash, and 4x400 meter relay. Malachi Adams was the team’s high scorer with 17.50 points. Adams took home the gold in the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.73 and was also a member of the first-place 4x400 relay team.
On the women’s side, the Eagles scored 148.5 total points to secure their first G-MAC title. Ashland landed two student-athletes on the all-conference list, including Freshman of the Meet Hailey Rios. In her first conference championship, Rios found herself atop the podium in the long jump with a mark of 5.79m.
The Great Midwest Indoor Championships concluded with an awards ceremony honoring both team champions as well as a host of individual winners. The Great Midwest Elite 26 Award is given to the individual competing in any Great Midwest Championship with the highest cumulative GPA. The individual awards were tallied based on individual point totals.
