Great Midwest Announces Bowling All-Conference Selections

Gastonia, NC—The Great Midwest Athletic Conference, in conjunction with Conference Carolinas, will host their second men’s and women’s bowling championship March 24 – March 26. The Championship will be held at Liberty Lanes, located in Gastonia, NC.
 
The event will feature a best-of-seven baker match format with the championship matches being contested in the mega-match format. This year’s championship has five participating schools on the men’s side and seven on the women’s with Kentucky Wesleyan, Urusline, and Walsh representing the Great Midwest.
 
Following the qualifying matches on Friday, both conferences will recognize All-Conference and Individual award selections, as voted by the league’s coaches.
 
Jordan Norris of Walsh and Seth Koloski of Kentucky Wesleyan were selected as Men’s Co-Bowlers of the Year. Through the regular season, Norris bowled an averaged of 209.39 through 51 games and also took home the conference's Elite 26 Award for academic excellence. Koloski posted a  199 regular season average and ranks first in the conference in individual strike percentage. He was a two-time Top 5 All-Tournament team selection and placed in the Top 25 finishers in four events on the year.
 
On the Women’s side, Walsh swept the individual awards as Alicia Yacono and Rachel Young were awarded Bowler of the Year and Freshman of the Year, respectively. Yacono, a senior from Massilon, Ohio, bowled a team-high average of 181.51 through 45 games. Freshman Rachel Young was recognized as the league’s Freshman of the Year, bowling an average of 177.35.
 
Lauren Meagher of Kentucky Wesleyan is the Women's Elite 26 recipient. Meagher, a senior majoring in Chemistry, was recognized as having the highest GPA, while also being an active participant for the Panthers

Six men's bowlers were named to the all-conference team, while nine were selected on the women's side with three from each participating institutions. A full list of honorees can be found here
