NEWPORT, Ky. – The Thomas More Saints men’s bowling team showcased incredible grit and determination, officially capturing their second consecutive Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Championship as the final G-MAC squad remaining at the 2026 Conference Carolinas/G-MAC Bowling Championships.

The Saints earned the back-to-back conference crown on the back of a strong qualifying performance and one of the most unforgettable comebacks in recent tournament history.

Thomas More opened the championships on Friday by establishing themselves as the top G-MAC team in the field during qualifying, knocking down 2,683 total pins to comfortably secure the #3 overall seed.

After dropping a tough opening-round match to #2 seed Emmanuel (4-1) on Friday afternoon, the Saints entered Saturday’s elimination bracket with no margin for error. In Match 4, they squared off against G-MAC rival Walsh in a showdown that would ultimately decide the conference champion.

Walsh stormed out of the gates, taking games one, three, and four to build a daunting 3-1 series lead over the Saints. With their back-to-back title hopes on the line, Thomas More caught fire. The Saints rattled off a clutch 204-180 win in game five, followed by a 180-167 victory in game six to force a decisive, winner-take-all Game 7. In a nail-biting finale, Thomas More held their nerve, edging out Walsh by a mere three pins (179-176) to complete the miraculous 4-3 series comeback.

The Saints advanced to face #5 Barton in Match 5. While Thomas More took games one and five to keep the pressure on, Barton ultimately secured a 4-2 victory to end the Saints' run.

By surviving the all-G-MAC elimination thriller and advancing further than any other conference foe, the Thomas More Saints proudly exit Newport, Kentucky, as the back-to-back 2026 G-MAC Men's Bowling Champions.
