Ashland's Trevor Bassitt is officially the nation's best. The multi-event national champion was named the National Men’s Track Athlete of the Year by the USTFCCCA, the first Division II men's athlete to earn the award three times.
Bassitt, a native of Bluffton, Ohio, had a dominant indoor season. At the national indoor meet, he totaled 22.5 points and won the 400m (45.36) and the 60m hurdles (7.73). He also anchored Ashland’s title-winning 4×400 relay. Both of those individual marks topped the divisional chart this season and that 45.36 is rated No. 2 on the all-dates, all-conditions NCAA DII list.
