Great Midwest Enters Second Championship Bowling Season

INDIANAPOLIS – The Walsh women’s bowling team received votes in the National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) DII/DIII Preseason Poll released earlier this month. The Cavaliers are the only Great Midwest team recognized in the women’s only poll.
 
Defending Great Midwest champions Kentucky Wesleyan College will join Ursuline to make up the 2022-2023 women’s bowling conference field.
 
KWC sees two of its three all-conference bowlers return to the lanes but will have to replace the talent from Great Midwest Bowler of the Year Alyssa Zombirt.
 
Walsh returns Great Midwest Freshman of the Year Hannah DeFord while Ursuline will return just one all-conference member to its roster for this season in junior Lucille Petkac.
 
On the men’s side, Kentucky Wesleyan and Walsh will compete in 2022-2023 as Great Midwest members for their second season.
 
The Panthers return Great Midwest Co-Bowler of the Year Evan Decker to the lineup this season as well as Co-Freshman of the Year Austin Vickers for his sophomore campaign. KWC will also be supported by Great Midwest All-Conference team member and senior Dalton Karnstens.
 
For the Cavaliers, Great Midwest Co-Bowler of the Year Jordan Norris returns to the lineup as well as three others from the Great Midwest All-Conference squad.
 
Kentucky Wesleyan College was honored as both the 2023 Great Midwest Men’s and Women’s Bowling Champions at the Conference Carolinas/Great Midwest combined championship held at Liberty Lanes in Gastonia, N.C. last spring. The two teams finished as runners-up in the combined championship.
 
The Conference Carolinas/Great Midwest Men’s and Women’s Bowling Championship will return to Liberty Lanes on March 24 in Gastonia, N.C.
