INDIANAPOLIS – With more provisional marks cleared, Ashland and Walsh staked claim to Great Midwest Athletic Conference Men’s Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week honors that were announced on Monday afternoon.

Back-to-back weekly honors were secured by Bassitt after the senior standout shattered another conference record, this time at the Penn State National Open.
 
After resetting the 60-meter hurdles record last weekend, the most recent event saw him topple the 400-meter dash record. Bassitt won the event in 46.08 seconds, a time that is tops in Division II and ranks second in Division I only behind North Carolina A&T’s Randolph Ross (45.37).
 
Bassitt also recorded a pair of top-10 performances in the record books in the 60-meter hurdles with a 7.79 effort in the finals and a 7.80 in the prelims.
 
The previous 400-meter dash record was held by Findlay’s All-American and conference champion Xavier Marable that was originally set at the Penn State National Open in 2020.

It was a clean sweep in the throws events for Ott, a senior competing with his teammates at the Chip Wilson Invite at Mount Vernon Nazarene.
 
The senior claimed wins in the shot put and weight throw while recording provisional marks in the qualification for nationals.
 
Ott won the weight throw with a distance of 19.10m and beat the field in shot put with an attempt of 16.51m.
 
Ott currently ranks third in the conference in both shot put and weight throw in the season to date.
