Malone

Sprints
Canton, OH (McKinley HS / University of Rio Grande)
It’s tough enough to push your way into the conference performance top-10 list for one event, but Horne was able to do it twice as the Pioneers competed at the SPIRE Midwest Open.
Horne provisionally qualified for nationals in the 60-meter dash and 200-meter run while breaking both school records in the process
Horne shattered the 200-meter conference record with a time of 21.60. His time currently ranks tied for 14th in Division II this season.
In the 60-meter short sprint, he clocked a 6.88, tied for the sixth-fastest mark in conference history. He broke the school record that he previously shared with Ashton Dulin.
Horne ranks in the top 30 in Division II in the 60-meter dash.
Men’s Field Athlete of the Week
Davis Bowers

Senior
Belle Center, OH (Benjamin Logan HS)
Bowers set the pole vault record in the Great Midwest for the third time this season to continue a friendly back-and-forth rivalry with Cedarville’s Tommy Ansiel.
This time, Bowers bested Ansiel’s previous conference best at the Pittsburg State Invitational as he cleared 5.14 meters (16’ 10.25”).
He finished tied for fourth in the competition, which was held at the site for this year’s national championship meet. Bowers’ previous season best was 4.96m cleared at the SVSU Holiday Open.
