INDIANAPOLIS - Cedarville’s Daniel Michalski and Malone’s Duke Taylor were selected Great Midwest Athletic Conference Men’s Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week on Monday.

Michalski, a junior, broke the school record in the mile on Friday at the GVSU Big Meet at Grand Valley State, finishing second overall with a time of 4:05.72.

Michalski also broke his own G-MAC record for the mile time and now holds five of the top six records for the indoor mile run in G-MAC history. He also ranks ninth in NCAA DII with the provisional time.

Then, the combo of Josiah Bernard, Ethan Gatchell, Wyatt Hartman, and Michalski finished fifth in the distance medley relay, which broke the conference record by over 10 minutes.

Taylor, who has become a regular as the conference field athlete of the week with his sixth selection of the current season, competed in the Tiffin University Dragon Open this past Saturday.

Taylor took part in the weight throw competition and finished second with a throw of 62’ 7.75” (19.09m).  He set a new G-MAC record once again with that attempt.

He continues to creep closer towards the automatic-qualifying mark, but currently is tied for 12th nationally in DII weight throw.

Taylor now holds the top six G-MAC marks for the indoor weight throw; this is the Pioneers’ first year as a league member.
