G-MAC Men’s Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week (Feb. 15)

2.15.16

GREENWOOD, Ind. – Cedarville sophomore distance runner Daniel Michalski was named the seventh Great Midwest Athletic Conference Men's Track & Field Athlete of the Week for the indoor season on Monday.

Michalski was part of a strong weekend display by the Yellow Jackets on Friday/Saturday at the Grand Valley State Big Meet.

Multiple Cedarville student-athletes provisionally qualified for the national indoor meet in events like the distance medley relay, pole vault and the mile.

Michalski shattered the previous G-MAC indoor record in the mile and was a member of the school record-breaking group in the DMR.

He ran the mile with a time of 4:09.91, almost 10 seconds better than the existing record the sophomore had already established last year in February of 2015.

Michalski had already broken the record mile this season at the Youngstown State Indoor Invite on Jan. 22.

The DMR grouping of Michalski, Forrest Thayer, Wyatt Hartman and Samuel Harper, ran a 10:02.93, setting yet another school record by about 10 seconds.
