GREENWOOD, Ind. - This past weekend on the campus of Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio - the Toan Indoor Track successfully hosted the Great Midwest Athletic Conference’s inaugural Men’s and Women’s Indoor Track & Field Championships. With All-Conference honors tied directly to the results, the G-MAC has finalized the results and totaled the recognition for its student-athletes.

Cedarville University took home the men’s championship trophy with 183 points, 85 more than second place Central State University. As a result of the team’s efforts, 18 student-athletes found themselves scattered across the All-Conference teams.
Of those, 13 individuals earned first team honors as they combined to capture 14 first place finishes, highlighted by Josiah Bernard’s first place finishes in the 400m and the 4x400m relay. Two Yellow Jackets posted second place finishes, while three ended the indoor season on the conference third team.
Alderson Broaddus finished with eight All-Conference members and Central State had seven, but totaled eight spots as Darin Gooch earned two conference championship medals in the 200m and the long jump. In addition to Gooch, co-Track Athlete of the Year Romario Mckenzie earned first team honors. CSU had two on both the second and third All-Conference teams.
From AB, Jacob Goble captured a first place medal in the shot put, while Issac Silafau earned a second team spot and six more finished on the third team.
Trevecca Nazarene placed seven men on the G-MAC teams, highlighted by Talon Bullock (triple jump) and G-MAC co-Men’s Track Athlete of the Year Logan Rodgers (5,000m) first place marks. Kentucky Wesleyan had four Panthers receive All G-MAC honors, led by Tyrez Shipmon’s second team performance.
In all, 19 men received first team medals covering 21 possible spots, while 11 were handed second team certificates and 15 were acknowledged for the third team.
The All-Freshman team comprised 24 men, with 11 coming from Cedarville. Of those 11, five placed on the first team.
On the women’s side, Ursuline paced the group with an astounding 211.5 points. The Arrows won seven different events, having five individuals earn conference medals, with two - Beatriz Indurain and Victoria Abdul - posting multiple wins. Indurain, the Conference Track Athlete of the Year won four different events, including the 60m dash, the 60m hurdles, the Long Jump, and the Triple Jump. The Arrows also had four finishing on the second team.
The Lady Jackets had 16 women recognized for their efforts, with nearly half (7) on the first team. Highlighting the honors was Carsyn Koch’s two medals, coming in the 800m run and the High Jump. Six others were named to the second team, and a trio finished third. Trevecca Nazarene had eight finish with G-MAC honors, including championship performances by Biz McLendon in the 5,000m and Caroline Hampton in the 3,000m.
Central State, Alderson Broaddus, and Kentucky Wesleyan had a combined eight women honored. KWC’s lone reciprocate, G-MAC Field Athlete of the Year Crystal Hopkins, finished on the first team with her win in the shot put.
In all, 41 women were acknowledged as All-Conference selections. 15 athletes finished first over 21 possible spots, 14 completed their event in second place, and 12 ended the indoor season on the third team.
The G-MAC had 17 women finish on the All-Freshman squad, six finished first in their respective event, with Cedarville totaling the most athletes on the freshmen team with eight.
The outdoor season begins March 20 when Alderson Broaddus travels to Charlotte, NC and will conclude with the Outdoor Championships at Cedarville University on Saturday, April 18.
