GREENWOOD, Ind. - The Great Midwest Athletic Conference has named Darin Gooch of Central State University and Caroline Hampton of Trevecca Nazarene University the Men's and Women's Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week.

Darin Gooch has been named the Men’s Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week after his tremendous all-around performance at the Mid-February Meet, hosted by Baldwin Wallace.
 
Gooch’s best individual performance came in the long jump, where he established a new conference record by jumping 6.73m or 22’ 1”. He finished second in the event, but has established himself as the person to beat in the upcoming Indoor Conference Championships.
 
His performance didn’t end there, he placed second in the prelims of the 55m dash, ultimately finishing fifth overall. He also teamed up to win both the 4x200m and 4x400m races.

Women’s Track and Field: Athlete of the Week

Caroline Hampton has been named the Women’s Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week following her record setting performance at the Samford Invitational over the weekend.
 
Hampton finished fifth in the 3,000 meter race, but did so in a talented pool of runners as she posted a NCAA Division II provisional qualifying time of 9:59.82. Her time also established a conference and school record time, becoming the first women’s track athlete to post a time under 10 minutes.  
 
Hampton, the 2014 Women’s Cross Country Champion, currently holds the third best time in the mile event in conference, just 15 seconds away from the NCAA provisional time in that event.
