12.7.15

GREENWOOD, Ind. – Trevecca Nazarene junior Logan Rodgers was named the first Great Midwest Athletic Conference Men’s Track & Field Athlete of the Week for the indoor season on Monday.

Rodgers and the Trojans were the only non-NCAA Division I school to compete in the Vanderbilt Indoor Opener on Saturday.

In his season debut, Rodgers shined in the 5K, provisionally qualifying for the NCAA Division II Indoor Championships with a time of 14:33.36.

Rodgers also shattered the G-MAC indoor record of 14:36.46 previously held by Cedarville’s Matt Brooker in February of 2014.

The NCAA DII provisional qualifying mark in the 5K is 14:44.96. The auto mark is 14:04.40.

Rodgers finished fifth in the 5K race at Vandy only behind four upperclassmen runners from Louisville. While Rodgers paced the Trojans, his TNU teammates Ben Moroney and Josh Winskie crossed the line in sixth and seventh, respectively.

TNU returns to Vanderbilt in the new calendar year to compete at the Commodore Invitational on Friday/Saturday, Jan. 15-16, in Nashville.
