CU's Blackwell and Brooker compete at NCAA's

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (courtesy of @CUJackets) James Blackwell placed ninth in the pole vault while Matt Brooker was 12th in the 5,000 meters in the NCAA Division II Men's Indoor Track & Field Championship at the JDL Fast Track.

Blackwell was first to compete at 1:00 p.m. EDT. He cleared 4.90 meters (16-feet 0.75-inches) to finish 9th out of the 17 competitors.

The men's 5K started at 6:15 and Brooker crossed the finish line in 12th position. He was clocked in 14:39.41.

This was the second straight NCAA indoor appearance for Blackwell. He placed 12th in the heptathlon last winter and later qualified for the outdoor decathlon.

The indoor showing was the first for Brooker. He qualified for the NCAA outdoor 10K last spring.
