Nicole Burlinson has been named the Women’s Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week for the third time this season, continuing her streak of earning the honor every other week. At the SPIRE Division II Challenge Track and Field Meet in Geneva, Ohio, Burlinson competed and performed at a high level in three different events, winning two.
In her first race of the day, Burlinson posted a school-record time of 5:07.50 in the one mile run, missing the NCAA Division II provisional qualification time by just 2.5 seconds. Moments later, Burlinson took part in the 600-meter run and turned in a winning time of 1:36.43, winning by 5.24 seconds. The gap was so large, the next five runners all finished within 4.14 seconds of each other.
To round out the day of distance running, Burlinson, in the 4x400 meter relay, joined Rachel Cole, Alex DeVaughn, and Madgie Dunn and finished seventh overall with a time of 4:07.30 in a field of 14 relay teams. This came after she had claimed two individual wins.
