NORTH CANTON, OH: For the first time in the NCAA era, Walsh Cavalier Football found themselves ranked inside the top 25 of the AFCA DII Coaches Poll on Monday afternoon. The 25th ranked Cavs have been receiving votes for the past two weeks. 

The historic ranking follows the 2nd straight season that the team has gotten off to a 4-0 start. Most recently, Walsh defeated Ashland who was receiving votes at the time. 

Along with the nod in the poll, two Cavs were named G-MAC Athlete of the Week. Inside linebacker, Luke Dobbins, was Defensive Player of the Week after a 9 tackle, 2 hurries, 1 sack, and 1 pass break up performance. Braeden Springer was named Special Teams Player of the Week. His kickoff return of 89 yards set the Cavs up to score the the go ahead touchdown in last weeks win. 

This week, Walsh will travel to Crestview Hills, KY to face the Thomas More University Saints. Historically, Walsh is 1-2 vs the Saints with the first win coming last year when the Cavaliers won, 41-20. 

The Saints will welcome the Cavs with an 0-4 record. Both teams have a common opponent in Wheeling. Walsh defeated Wheeling 23-21 on 9/5. Thomas More fell to Wheeling, 27-10 on 8/29.
