Crestview Hills, Ky. – Thomas More University will be a full NCAA Division II member in the upcoming 2025-26 academic year, NCAA officials announced Thursday afternoon. College officials learned of the news on Thursday morning during a conference call with the NCAA.
Over the past two years of realignment from NCAA Division III to NAIA to Division II, Thomas More has seen historic growth as an institution both academically and athletically.
During their time with the G-MAC, the Saints have landed 375 student-athletes on the academic all-conference team, posting a GPA of 3.0 or better. Three student-athletes also garnered Elite 26 honors for academic excellence while also competing at the championship level.
Outside of the classroom, 38 student-athletes have been named either first or second team all-conference in their respective sports. The Saints have made post-season appearances on 11 occasions, including back-to-back championship game appearances in men’s basketball. This past spring, the men’s bowling team won the department’s first ever G-MAC championship trophy.
“Thomas More has been a great addition to the G-MAC, and we are proud of their efforts to complete the transition to active NCAA Division II status," said Great Midwest Commissioner Tom Daeger. "They are an outstanding member of the association, and have proven their ability to succeed academically and athletically in our league during their two years of competition. We look forward to seeing that continued success as full NCAA Division II benefits and championship access are provided to them beginning in 2025-26.”
Thomas More will soon welcome student-athletes back to campus, with their first NCAA Division II contest set to take place on August 30
th as the football team travels to Southern Illinois.
