4.23.25

FLORENCE, Ind. – Ohio Dominican wins the 2025 Great Midwest Men’s Golf Championship. This is the Panthers first men’s golf title in program history.

It was a clean sweep for Ohio Dominican. The Panthers won all five of their matches in route to a conference title on Wednesday at Belterra Golf Club. The Panthers shot lights out with three players finishing under par. ODU’s Bryce Cobb shot the low-round of the five matches with a 66 (-5). Tyler Andersen and Yahdu Urs both finished -1 (70). Ohio Dominican won four of the five matches by four strokes. Andersen, Cobb and Jeremiah Bane all lead their matches from wire to wire.

ODU came into the medal play round as the lower seeded team finishing 28 strokes behind their opponent, Findlay, following the 54-hole stroke play portion of the tournament.

Findlay dominated the early half of the week finishing the first 18 holes at -1 (283) thanks to under par rounds from Tyler Vallee and Luke Metzger. The Oilers were up 16 strokes heading into the Round 2. Although the Oilers remained the leader in the clubhouse after Day 1, a windy afternoon would help account for a 17-stroke swing for Findlay posting a +18 (302) heading into Day 2. Ohio Dominican would hold in second, but Hillsdale and Tiffin remained within arm’s length for the final spot in the medal play finals. Tiffin’s Liam Harvey was -1 (141) through 36 holes and the individual leader in the clubhouse heading into the final 18 holes of stroke play.

With Day 3 came calmer conditions and lower rounds. Findlay posted a -1 (283) matching the Oilers Round 1 result to secure a spot in the medal round finals. The Oilers were led in Round 3 by senior Tyler Vallee who posted the tournament low round at 65 (-6) which set a new course record at Belterra Golf Club. Colin Schadek would also finish under par at -1 (70). In the team standings, Tiffin would jump Hillsdale finishing at +16 but it wasn’t enough to edge out Ohio Dominican (+14) for a spot in the finals.

Individually, Findlay’s Schadek stayed consistent throughout the tournament which would earn him Medalist honors posting a 54-hole total of  213 (E). Finishing just one stroke behind in second was Tiffin’s Liam Harvey (+1). UF’s Vallee (+3) and Metzger (+8) would finish in the Top 5 at No. 3 and No. 5 respectively with ODU’s Urs (+6) rounding out the All-Conference honorees in fourth.
