The 2025 Great Midwest Athletic Conference golf scene is set to showcase another campaign of elite play.
On the women’s side, the University of Findlay Oilers have dominated the conference for the past six years, with a number of up-and-coming programs looking to make their mark.
For the men, it has been a competitive battle each year, with the Oilers looking to defend their championship after putting together a stellar 2024 season. However, team’s like Ashland University and Tiffin University look to jump right back into the mix for a conference crown.
A look at the Women:
For the past six seasons, the Oilers have been the standard for women’s golf success. Under Head Coach Dominic Guarnieri, who was the Coach of the Year in 2024, the team has found immense success. With top returners Mary Kelly Mulcahy, Erin Mulcahy, and Ashleigh Duflo, all of which were named to the All-Conference Team last season, Findlay’s pursuit of a seventh consecutive title will be the story to lookout for.
They also return sophomore Ashleigh Duflo, who took home Freshman of the Year honors in 2024.
Just behind the Oilers last year came Ashland University and Ohio Dominican, two teams who also had three All-Conference team members.
The Great Midwest was well-represented in the most recent edition of the NCAA Division II Regional rankings. Findlay leads the way at No. 1, followed by Tiffin at No. 4 and Ashland at No. 5. Northwood was ranked No. 17 an Ohio Dominican came in at No. 19, respectively.
Onto the Men’s Side:
Like the women, the men for Findlay will certainly be the team to take down. Guarnieri was also the Coach of the Year last season and will look to guide the Oilers to another strong showing at the conference stage.
They were spotlighted by three seniors taking home All-Conference team honors, and will look to the team’s younger talent to take the reigns in 2025. Fortunately, they bring back Freshman of the Year Colin Schadek who will look to take a leap in his sophomore stint. The Oilers were the only team to have more than two All-Conference team members.
Those teams just behind Findlay have been the Eagles and Dragons, who look to jump ahead this season. With the Eagles returning graduate student Carter Mishler, and a plethora of youngsters, the team is looking to dethrone the Oilers. For the Dragons, their youth shined last season with sophomores Mitchell Brassard and Johan Widal being named to the All-Conference team.
Findlay, Hillsdale, Ashland, and Ohio Dominican made appearances in the most recent NCAA DII Midwest Regional Rankings.
