LEXINGTON, Ky.- The two regionally-ranked programs in Tiffin and Ashland will battle one another in the medal match round Wednesday morning.
Tiffin (290 -294 – 296=880 (+16)), the favorite, maintained a lead throughout the 54 holes to earn a spot in the medal match. Ashland (306-293-287=886 (+22)) is second and four shots ahead of third place Malone (+26).
The Dragons placed two individuals in the top eight finishers, landing spots on the all-conference team. Mitchel Brassard is tied for second, finishing with a score of 218. Johan Widal finished tied for eighth at 221 (+2).
Ashland’s Andrew Kolar earned medalist status, finishing first through 54 holes. Kolar shot 215 to finish -1.
Malone’s Connor Curry (+2) and Findlay’s Hunter Foltz (+2) joined Brassard in a three-way tie for second.
Luke Metzger joins teammate Foltz on the all-conference team for the fourth place Oilers. Metzger (+4), finished in a three-way tie for fifth with Trevecca’s Alex Hamm and Northwood’s Viktor Nibell.
Lake Erie’s Antonio Bodziony, Walsh’s Kyle Buzaki, and Ohio Dominican’s Mack Cushman also finished the day in the top eight with a three-way tie for 8
th place. All three individuals shot 221 (+5).
Evan Johnson of Northwood University was awarded the Elite 26 Award for Academic Excellence. Johnson is a Sophomore majoring in finance.
Tiffin and Ashland will play in a single-round medal match for the championship, beginning tomorrow at 8:30 A.M.
