OWENSBORO, Kentucky - After Findlay, Tiffin and Walsh all finished the regular season atop the standings with a 5-1 mark, it was the Tiffin men's tennis team that broke the tie Saturday by winning the Great Midwest Men's Tennis Championship.
The Dragons, the tourney's No. 2 seed, won the doubles point and then got an easy win at No. 2 and three-set wins at Nos. 1 and 4 to clinch the championship. Ruben Fonga, Michael Gurtner and Matthew Weaver won their singles matches to give Tiffin the crown. Findlay's Octavio Carrasco won at No. 6 singles to provide the final 4-3 margin.
Tiffin (18-7) will earn the conference's automatic bid into the Midwest Region of the NCAA Tournament.
