Walsh senior Jakob Riglewski was voted 2022 Great Midwest Men's Tennis Player of the Year in a vote of the conference's head coaches. Riglewski headlines the postseason awards list, along with Great Midwest Freshman of the Year William Rassat of Ashland, Elite 25 winner Octavio Carrasco from Findlay and the conference's coaches of the year were Findlay's Doug Linden and Walsh's .
Riglewski, from Munich, Germany, posted a league-best 21-4 record while playing No. 1 singles. He went 6-0 in singles and 5-1 in doubles play vs. conference opponents. Overall, he went 20-3 at No. 1 singles to lead Walsh to a 15-8 record and into a three-way tie at the top of the conference standings,
Rassat, a native of Veigy Foncenex, France playing mainly at No. 2 singles for AU, won double-digit matches in both singles and doubles play. He was 4-2 against conference opponents in singles and 5-1 in doubles play. Carrasco is the men's tennis Elite 25 winner for academic excellence. He owns a 3.98 GPA at Findlay and is a buisness major. Linden, who coached Findlay to a share of a regular season title, was voted Great Midwest Coach of the Year along with Walsh's Bryan Whittaker, who also had a share of the title. Findlay went 5-1 in conference play and won six of seven duals to close the regular season while Walsh won five of its last six.
Findlay is the top seed in
this weekend's Great Midwest Men's Tennis Championship and will take on No. 4 seed Hillsdale. Tiffin is the No. 2 seed and will take on No. 3 Walsh.
