Fifteen standout student-athletes from eight different member institutions are this week's Great Midwest Athletic Conference athletes of the week for the period April 11-April 17.
Below is a recap of each award winner and a complete list of this week's honorees.
Baseball Player of the Week
Griffin Stevens - Tiffin / Jr. / Brecksville, Ohio
Stevens hit .526 (9-19) with four home runs and nine RBIs to lead Tiffin to a pivotal series win over TNU. He also scored seven runs in the series, which helped TU to the top of the Great Midwest baseball standings.
Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Michael Boswell - Tiffin / Sr. / Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania
Boswell tossed a complete game with 12 strikeouts while allowing just one run on five hits. It was his 24th career win, setting the career school record that had stood since 1997.
Softball Player of the Week
Madison Stoner - Hillsdale / Sr. / Hunker, Pennsylvania
Stoner hit .687 (11-16) with four doubles, six RBIs and four runs scored to lead Hillsdale to a 5-0 week. She was a perfect 7-for-7 in a doubleheader sweep of Kentucky Wesleyan on Saturday and now stands in the top four in the conference in RBIs, hits and doubles.
Softball Pitcher of the Week
Megan Demler - Findlay / Sr. / Wapakoneta, Ohio
Demler enjoyed a 3-0 week in the circle to lead UF to a 4-0 week. She struck out 15 over 12.1 innings while throwing two complete games and finished with a 1.70 ERA.
Women's Golf Player of the Week
Mary Kelly Mulcahy - Findlay / Fr. / Lima, Ohio
Mulcahy closed the regular season with a tournament win at the Cav Classic at Walsh, firing a 36-hole 146 to lead Findlay to its fifth straight team tourney title.
Men's Tennis Player of the Week
Jakob Riglewski - Walsh / Sr. / Munich, Germany
Riglewski went 2-0 in both singles and doubles play last week, highlighted by a 6-3, 6-1 win over #13 Brennan Cimpeanu to remain undefeated in Great Midwest action. Walsh's 4-0 win over Hillsdale allowed the Cavs to claim a piece of the regular season men's tennis championship.
Women's Tennis Player of the Week
Nicole Beidacki - Walsh / Sr. / Porto Alegre, Brazil
Beidacki had a clutch week for Walsh, staving off four match points to win 7-6 (7-5) over Hillsdale in doubles and then winning 6-2, 6-0 in singles to clinch the victory.
Men's Lacrosse Player of the Week
Thomas Hanula - Seton Hill / Grad / Gibsonia, Pennsylvania
Hanula registered career highs in goals (7) and points (9) in a win at Frostburg State. He also had two ground balls and a caused turnover.
Men's Lacrosse Defender of the Week
Matt Anderson - Wheeling / Sr. / Gorham, Maine
Anderson's lockdown defense led Wheeling to a win over Davis & Elkins last week. He led the team with eight ground balls and limited the Senators' leading scorer to just three goals, including zero in the first two quarters. He also got involved in the offense with the clock winding down in the second quarter, Anderson took a shot from midfield and found the back of the net to send Wheeling into halftime leading 8-0.
Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week
Cassady Becker - Ashland / Jr. / Sunbury, Ohio
Becker led Ashland in a 17-8 win over UC, totaling five goals and two assists for seven points.
Women's Lacrosse Defender of the Week
Alyson Lillibridge - Findlay / Sr. / Finksburg, Maryland
Lillibridge totaled five caused turnovers and three ground balls in a Findlay victory last week, keeping the Oilers in the hunt for the regular season title.
Men's Outdoor Track Running Athlete of the Week
Trevor Bassitt - Ashland / Sr. / Bluffton, Ohio
Bassitt won the 400m hurdles at the Mt. SAC Relays last week, clocking a time of 49.15. It is the 10th-fastest time in NCAA Division II history.
Men's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week
Joshua Nichols - Hillsdale / Soph. / Star, Idaho
Took third in the triple jump at the Tiffin Carnival this weekend, with a mark of 14.05 meters. It stands as the top triple jump in the Great Midwest this spring.
Women's Outdoor Track Running Athlete of the Week
Alexandra Brizzi - Cedarville / Jr. / Bensalem, Pennsylvania
Brizzi won both the 100m and 200m at the Huntington Invitational last week. Her 100 mark of 12.05 was a personal best and is third all-time at Cedarville. She also ran 25.82 in the 200, winning a race with 13 entrants.
Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week
Nikita Maines - Hillsdale / Jr. / Centralia, Illinois
Maines broke her own school record with a throw of 15.54 meters in the shot put to win the Bryan Clay Invite title last week.
