INDIANAPOLIS – Ohio Dominican and Findlay each received Great Midwest Athletic Conference Golf Athletes of the Week awards as announced on Thursday morning.
Men’s Athlete of the Week

Letchworth Garden City, England (Bedford)
Holden was the top individual scorer factored into three rounds of medal match play hosted by Cedarville at the Country Club of the North. It was his third medalist honor of the 2021-22 campaign already.
Ohio Dominican was one of four Great Midwest teams in the bracket style event set up by the Yellow Jackets. Holden finished with rounds of 75-68-69 for a cumulative score of 4-under par and a ‘tournament’ total of 212.
The senior has already carved out first-place finishes at the season-opening ODU Kickoff Classic and the Malone-Glenmoor Invitational.
His scoring average is also tied for second best in the conference at 70.63 through eight rounds counted.
Holden earned his second conference athlete of the week honor for the 2021-22 season.
Women’s Athlete of the Week
Jill Schmitmeyer
Findlay
Senior
St. Marys, OH (St. Marys HS)
The Oilers toured through Michigan for back-to-back tournaments at the Gilda’s Club Laker Invite and the Ferris State Invitational. Findlay finished as the runner-up in the team standings for each event.
Schmitmeyer posted a pair of top-10 finishes, placing no lower than sixth, in each event for a Findlay program ranked ninth in the second WGCA Poll for the 2021-22 academic year.
The second team All-American and most recent conference player of the year continued an exceptional fall as she currently ranks second in the Great Midwest in scoring average through three events (76.00).
Schmitmeyer fired a tournament score of 153 (+9) following rounds of 76 and 77 in Allendale at The Meadows. She finished tied for sixth.
Over the next two days in Big Rapids, she was runner-up at the Lady Bulldog Fall Invitational with a 5-over par showing. She had her first under par round of the season with a 70 (-2) and finished with a 149 36-hole total.
