INDIANAPOLIS – Ohio Dominican and Walsh were announced as winners of Great Midwest Athletic Conference Golf Athletes of the Week honors on Thursday morning.
 
Men’s Athlete of the Week
Robert Holden
Ohio Dominican
Senior
Letchworth Garden City, England (Bedford)
 
Holden was the star at the Malone-Glenmoor Invitational while earning medalist honors in a field with five different conference programs.
 
The senior established a new school record for a 54-hole tournament format and helped the Panthers to a runner-up team placing only behind Walsh at the top of the leaderboard.
 
Holden was under par for all three round at the Glenmoor CC firing a 71 (-1), 68 (-4) and 69 (-3), to win by a three-shot margin over Walsh’s Brandon Netzel (211).
 
Ohio Dominican finished with a three-round score of 878 (289-291-298) and the program was one stroke shy of matching the 54-hole scoring team record.
 
Holden has earned back-to-back top individual finishes to start the fall after also winning the ODU Kickoff Classic. His scoring average through two events is a league-leading 70.60 through five rounds scored.
 
Women’s Athlete of the Week
Madison Ardelean

In a heavy Division I field at the Youngstown State-hosted Roseann Schwart Invitational, Ardelean and the Cavaliers had an impressive showing over the weekend.
 
Ardelean was in the top 10 of the final player standings after shooting rounds of 75 and 74 while finishing in a tie for eighth.
 
The juniro finished 5-over par for the two-round tourney which included Akron, Cleveland State, Dayton, Western Michigan and Bucknell, among others.
 
Walsh would finish in a tie for ninth in the team standings with scores of 319 and 315 for a cumulative total of 634. This was the Cavaliers’ first tournament of the 2021-22 academic year.
