LEXINGTON, Ky.
– Trevecca Nazarene rose to the occasion in the final 18 holes to complete another title run in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Men's Golf Championships that finished on Tuesday.

The Trojans carried over a considerable 14-stroke lead from Monday's first 36 holes and finished strong with a 12-stroke margin of victory at the University Club of Kentucky. On Tuesday, TNU's final team score of 12-under par 852 represented a new championship tournament record in conference history.

Trevecca Nazarene officially punched its ticket with an AQ in the NCAA Midwest Regional. Coming in, the Trojans were ranked regionally along with Findlay and Hillsdale.

Both programs and plenty of others in the field made their push on the leaderboard. Hillsdale's round of 281 (-7) was the best team score of the day and while Ohio Dominican, Walsh and Tiffin, either posted their lowest round or matched it. Hillsdale was the tournament runner-up as Ryan Zetwick finished with the round's best red number of 67 (-4) and ended third individually.

The Trojans celebrated during the awards ceremony outside of the clubhouse and held up the trophy representing their seventh successful championship run in nine years. With the 2020 season shortened, the Trojans are still back-to-back conference champions after winning the title in 2019.

TNU bested its previous conference championship record after the Trojans posted a team score of 887 in 2016.

TNU senior Ryan Rozic earned his placement as the tournament medalist as he finished under par in all three rounds for a cumulative total of 210 (-6). Rozic was pushed hard by Findlay's Luke Kelly (-5), so far that he sank a 25-foot putt on the 18th green to save par and avoid a playoff.

It was a very consistent 54 holes for Rozic as TNU's top four scorers in the tournament earned all-conference honors. The top 8 finishers, including ties, were presented with their plaque and the inaugural Elite 23 Award winner was announced as Tiffin senior Nico Kyprian, who has a 4.00 GPA in marketing. Kyprian hails from Switzerland and gave the Dragons the academic sweep as Emily Koehler accepted her Elite 23 award last weekend.

Weather was again optimal for low scoring with ample sunshine as the area braced for wintery conditions coming in as soon as Wednesday. As the final groups made their way into the clubhouse, gusts of wind picked up on occasion, but getting all 54 holes of the men's and women's tournaments in without any delays is a marked success in the 2020-21 season.

Also earning all-conference included a pair of Tiffin Dragons, Britton Hensel in fourth and Cameron McCloskey moving up to take solo seventh. TNU's Devin Speight and Walsh's Brandon Jatich, each tied for eighth. Trojans were back-to-back in fifth and sixth with two-time champ medalist Blain Turner and Jonah Manning as bookends. Zetwick earned third and Kelly was second.
