CLEVELAND –
With over half of its membership represented, the Great Midwest Athletic Conference had a strong showing in the Division II LEARFIELD Directors’ Cup Final Fall Standings that was released on Thursday.
 
The final Learfield Directors’ Cup fall standings for Divisions II and III and the NAIA have Colorado School of Mines (DII – 373.00 total points), Johns Hopkins (DIII – 471.00 total points) and Oregon Tech (NAIA – 275.50 total points) sitting in first of their respective divisions. Division I standings will be released after the Bowl Games and the FCS Championship in January.
 
In Division II, Grand Valley State is in second place with 368.00 points, West Texas A&M is in third with 252.00 points, American International is in fourth place with 226.00 points and Lenoir-Rhyne rounds out the top-five with 223.00 points.
 
Cedarville is the top-ranked Great Midwest member institution with a standing of No. 14 in Division II. The Yellow Jackets had a fall to remember as four different programs advanced to NCAA Championship competition, with either automatic qualification or at-large selections, after completing conference championships.
 
Cedarville is close to cracking the top 10 as it collected a total of 184 points including 50 from men’s soccer in NCAA Super Region 3, 25 from women’s soccer out of the NCAA Midwest Regional and nearly 100 combined points earned from the cross country championships in Saint Leo, Fla.
 
Hillsdale is top 40 at No. 38 as the Chargers accumulated 124 points from two sports, volleyball and cross country. The HC volleyball program earned a Midwest Regional title and went to Tampa, Fla., as the first Great Midwest advancement into the reseeded quarterfinals in the Elite 8 of the national championship bracket. The women’s cross country team also scored over 50 points with its strong performance in Florida.
 
Walsh also maintained top 50 status with 109 points as the Cavaliers traveled both cross country programs to the national championships. Alexa Leppelemeier’s All-American performance helped the women’s team account for 53 points and the men’s team placed 18th for 56 points in the standings formula.
 
Next is Lake Erie as the Storm celebrated a Sweet 16 appearance in the NCAA Super Region 3 semifinals following a sweep of conference regular season and tournament titles. The Storm are ranked at No. 82 with 64 points.
 
Three Great Midwest schools are crowded in the field at a tie for 124th in the LEARFIELD Directors’ Cup Standings including Ashland, Findlay and Ohio Dominican. Ashland’s point total came from the NCAA Midwest Regional in women’s soccer as the Eagles rolled into the championship bracket as the No. 2 seed. The Oilers were the league’s lone representative in the NCAA Super Region 1 bracket for football and the Panthers were among three qualifiers from the conference in men’s soccer of NCAA Super Region 3.
 
In Division III, Middlebury is in second with 397.50 points, in third is Tufts with 330.50 points, Chicago is in fourth with 320.50 points and Calvin finishes the top-five with 308.00 points.
 
The final fall NAIA standings have Indiana Wesleyan in second with 275.00 points, Marian in third with 261.00 points, in fourth is Lindsey Wilson with 247.00 points and Central Methodist rounds out the top-five with 241.00 points.

The 2021-22 Division I LEARFIELD Directors’ Cup standings will be published on Thursday, January 13. The winter standings will begin distribution on Thursday, March 31.
