INDIANAPOLIS – With the fall portion of the season winding down to a close for most programs, Great Midwest Athletic Conference Golf Athletes of the Week were announced for Ohio Dominican and Malone on Thursday.
 
Men’s Athlete of the Week
Mack Cushman
Ohio Dominican
RS Junior
Mechanicsburg, OH (Mechanicsburg HS/Urbana)
 
The Panthers earned a team victory at the Davenport Invitational, finishing first out of 11 teams in the field with a tournament total of 580.
 
Cushman led the way with medalist honors while recording a 36-hole score of 139 (65-74).
 
The redshirt junior was scorching with his first-round total of 65 (-7) and tied the program record (Division II era) that was previously held solo by Blake Saffell set last year.
 
Cushman made birdie on three of his first five holes and finished with nine for the first round alone. He held off his teammate Robert Holden, who was already coming into the tournament with three individual title wins.
 
For Cushman, it was his first collegiate victory and finished 3-under par for the two rounds. ODU has recorded four medalist wins in seven different events this fall.
 
Women’s Athlete of the Week
Christina Williams
Malone
Graduate Student
Medina, OH (Highland HS)
 
The Pioneers were one of five Great Midwest teams at the Music City Invitational hosted by Trevecca Nazarene in Murfreesboro, Tenn.
 
Williams was the star as the graduate student acme through with a runner-up individual finish following her two-round total of 143.
 
Williams just five strokes off the medalist pace set by Franklin Pierce’s Kesinee Prukmathakul, who had a 138.
 
Williams was at even par or better in both rounds and Malone finished eighth as a team with Tiffin, Walsh, Ashland and TNU, also in the mix.
