Ben Schlesselman Named Great Midwest Associate Commissioner

INDIANAPOLIS – Effective July 1, the Great Midwest Athletic Conference is proud to announce the promotion of Ben Schlesselman to Associate Commissioner for the upcoming 2020-21 academic year. 
 
Schlesselman joined the league in August of 2014 and is preparing for his seventh year on the conference staff having previously served as Assistant Commissioner for Strategic Communications. 
 
“Ben has been an integral contributor to the development and success of the Great Midwest since near the league’s inception,” said Great Midwest Commissioner Tom Daeger. “I am thankful for his tremendous work ethic, his passion for promoting our student-athletes, and the pride he takes in serving the membership each day. I look forward to seeing all that he will continue to accomplish with the league.”
 
Schlesselman is responsible for the Great Midwest strategic communication plan, including social media platforms and initiatives with developing technology while collaborating closely with the league’s sports information professionals. 
 
Schlesselman played a key role in pushing out the Great Midwest Digital Network and several additional branding initiatives, including website and logo redesigns.
 
He continues to have a hand in generating website content, maintaining statistics for all 23 conference championship sports and leading various coaches’ committees as assigned in the Great Midwest governance structure. 
 
Schlesselman serves as the conference liaison for the Men’s Soccer, Women’s Lacrosse, Wrestling, and Sports Information Directors committees. Additionally, he is the primary media contact for multiple sports, handling preseason polls and season previews, as well as updating game schedules and scores. 
 
Schlesselman has contributed at the national level as a current member of the Men’s Soccer Regional Advisory Committee and a former member of the Women’s Soccer and Men’s Lacrosse Advisory Committees. He has fulfilled the duty of NCAA site representative for soccer three times. 
 
Schlesselman has represented the conference at the NCAA Leadership Forum and NCAA Diversity & Inclusion Forum. He is also an active member of D2CIDA and is the D2CCA Midwest Region coordinator for volleyball awards. 
 
In 2019, Schlesselman received a five-year service award at the annual Great Midwest Spring Awards Banquet.
