NORMAN, Okla. –
Findlay senior Luke Kelly (Brownsburg, Ind./Brownsburg HS) represented the Great Midwest Athletic Conference in the recent release of the 2020 Division II PING All-Midwest Region Team this week.

This is the second straight year that Kelly, a two-time all-conference selection while Findlay has been in the Great Midwest, has earned regional honors by PING coordinated with the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).

Findlay completed six different tournaments during the fall portion of the 2019-20 season with Kelly pacing all players in scoring average through 15 rounds (71.67).

His scoring average ranked 23rd in Division II and was a two-time conference player of the week prior to the spring getting shut down due to COVID-19.

Kelly also shot a 66 (-6) at the Ohio Cup in the fall, one of the top 10 lowest rounds in conference history.

Kelly helped the Oilers become nationally ranked for the first time in program history this year, currently ranked 22nd in the nation.

Findlay was also ranked second in the Midwest Region as the program positioned itself well for NCAA Championship qualification.

Kelly was on pace to potentially break the single-season record in scoring average of 71.83 by Trevecca Nazarene’s Blain Turner in 2018-19.

In terms of fairness and consideration for all sports impacted by the cancellation of NCAA Winter/Spring Championships from COVID-19, the Great Midwest Athletic Conference has suspended all-conference teams for spring sports that have not completed a conference championship event.

Those sports include golf, tennis, baseball, softball and lacrosse. The majority of Great Midwest outdoor track and field programs had not seen their season start with the NCAA Championships in Alabama officially halted.
