NORMAN, Okla. – As the 2019-20 season quickly approaches, nine student-athletes from the Great Midwest Athletic Conference were recognized by Srixon/Cleveland Golf for their 2018-19 academic achievements.
Four schools from the league were represented on the list for Division II Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholars.
A total of 113 names were submitted for the Division II award, part of record numbers reported by the organization.
To be eligible for Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar status an individual must be a junior or senior academically in Division I, II, III, and NAIA, or receiving their Associate’s Degree and in their last year of athletic eligibility in the NJCAA. In addition, they participate in 50-percent of his team’s competitive rounds, have a stroke-average under 76.0 in Division I, 78.0 in Division II, 78.0 in NAIA and 79.0 in Division III, 77.0 in NJCAA, and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.
Additionally, the Golf Coaches Association of America also released the Bushnell Golfweek Preseason Poll within the past week.
Trevecca Nazarene, last year’s conference champions and NCAA Championship quarterfinalist in medal play, received 43 votes just out side the top 25 in the poll. Walsh was also represented in the receiving votes category with five.
