INDIANAPOLIS – Trevecca Nazarene and Ohio Valley earned selections for Great Midwest Athletic Conference Golf Athletes of the Week as the spring season moved along.
Men’s Athlete of the Week
Blain Turner

Turner conquered the future course, UK Big Blue, of this year’s conference championships in Lexington, Ky., his own with a runner-up finish at the Findlay Spring Invitational.
Notably, the majority of the Great Midwest schools were participating as the Trojans finished second overall in the team scoring only to Grand Valley State.
Turner fired his 12th and 13th rounds of under par or better to lead TNU as the Trojans carded rounds of 286 and 289 for a cumulative 1-under par two-day total.
Turner posted a 69 (-3) in his first round before recorded a 71 (-1) to finish with a two-round score of 4-under 140.
Turner maintained his status as the league’s leader in scoring average by almost a full stroke. His average through 18 rounds now sits at 71.61. He has five top-10 finishes out of eight events and is 552-55 (.909) head-to-head against his competition.
The reigning Great Midwest Freshman of the Year collected his third conference athlete of the week honor in his career.
Women’s Athlete of the Week
Joslyn Goins
Ohio Valley
Sophomore
Zanesville, OH (Zanesville HS)
Goins was the medalist at the Pioneer Classic over in Beverly, Ohio as the Fighting Scots placed fourth as a program.
The sophomore was skillful at Lakeside Golf Course, where she posted rounds of 79 and 76 for a two-round score of 155 (+11).
Goins matched her season-best score with the 76 going back to the OVU Women’s Golf Classic in early October.
Goins has also been a staple of consistency, recording her seventh top-10 finish in eight events. She has a cumulative scoring average of 80.23 on the season with 13 rounds played.
