INDIANAPOLIS – Hillsdale and Tiffin earned Great Midwest Athletic Conference Golf Athletes of the Week honors as announced on Tuesday.
The spring season featured the majority of conference teams competing at the Saginaw Valley State-hosted Spring Invitational down in Georgetown (men) and Lexington (women), Ky.
The conference championships will be conducted in Lexington on the home course of the Kentucky Wildcats.
Men’s Athlete of the Week
Liam Purslowe
Hillsdale

By virtue of a third-place team finish, Purslowe earned conference weekly honors for the second time in his career and first time this season.
Purslowe fired a two-round total of 141 (-3) to finish tied for sixth in the scoring. He fired a 3-under 69 in his first round followed with an even par 72.
The Chargers finished second only behind Grand Valley State and Ferris State as a team. The Chargers fired a 285 in the first round and a 291 in the final round.
Purslowe’s scoring average is now at 73.13 for the season through 15 rounds and six events played. He currently has four top-10 finishes and is tied for fourth among the league’s scoring average leaders.
Women’s Athlete of the Week

Johansson’s strong first-year campaign continued as she finished tied for the runner-up position in her first tournament of the spring.
Johansson carded rounds of 76 and 73 to finish with a two-round score of 149 and was 5-over par for the tournament.
Findlay was able to win the team title with rounds of 304, but the Dragons made things interesting 17 shots back with a 308-317--625.
Johansson has now been named conference athlete of the week two times in 2018-19. Her scoring average is at an even 78 through 13 rounds and seven events.
She is tied for eighth among the Great Midwest scoring leaders along with Trevecca Nazarene’s Lexie Shaw and Malone’s Christina Williams.
