INDIANAPOLIS – Hillsdale and nationally-ranked Findlay went up against high caliber competition to receive Great Midwest Athletic Conference Golf Athletes of the Week honors as announced on Wednesday.
Two different medalists were crowned during the men’s week of competition as Tiffin’s Britton Hensel (71-70-74) finished first at the top of the leaderboard at the Kyle Ryman Memorial Invitational.
Men’s Athlete of the Week
Josh Davenport

Binley, Coventry, England (King Henry VIII)
At the Midwest Regional at Fox Run in Missouri, 17 teams were in the field from either the Great Midwest, Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLVC) or Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC).
Davenport was the medalist at the premier region event, winning a one-hole playoff to break a four-way tie for first at the end of 54 holes.
The reigning conference freshman of the year fired a 73-67-74--214 to finish his three rounds.
In the playoff, he beat out Maryville’s Will Holand, Drury’s Clayton Larsen and Lindenwood’s Liam Bentein. Going into Hillsdale’s second event of the fall, Davenport had a scoring average of 74.0.
Davenport dropped his scoring average by one full shot as Hillsdale finished eighth overall as a team. This is his second career conference weekly honor.
Women’s Athlete of the Week
Meredith Wipper
Findlay
Senior
Hilton Head, SC (Hilton Head HS)
Wipper was the league’s (and her team’s) top finisher at the William Beall Fall Classic, an event the Oilers hosted at the Findlay Country Club.
The senior finished third with a 54-hole score of 221 (77-67-77) to lead the team. Wipper led the tournament with 11 birdies total throughout the three rounds.
The Oilers would finish runner-up in the 54-hole event only to UIndy in the final team scoring. UF trailed their regional rival by just four strokes going into the final ground before the Greyhounds carved out some breathing room.
Wipper’s scoring average is now at 74.11 through nine rounds played and four events completed. This is her fourth career conference weekly honor, including the second of the current season.
