Findlay, Kentucky Wesleyan Earn GCAA 18Birdies Team Academic Awards

NORMAN, Okla.
– Two Great Midwest Athletic Conference member institutions received Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) 18Birdies All-Academic Team recognition for the 2017-18 year as announced by the organization.
 
Findlay and Kentucky Wesleyan impressed both on and off the links with a team GPA of 3.0 or better. Only 40 Division II institutions were named GCAA 18Birdies All-Academic Team recipients.
 
The GCAA announced the academic achievement in addition to different tiers, including 18Birdies Academic National Champions (New Mexico – Division I; Bellarmine – Division II; Swarthmore – Division III) and the President’s Special Recognition, honoring programs with a minimum 3.5 GPA.
 
The GCAA announced a record number of 222 men’s golf teams to earn 18Birdies All-Academic Team Recognition.
 
The Oilers, with 16 student-athletes on the 2017-18 roster, are coached by Dominic Guarnieri and the Panthers are guided by Ken Badylak, respectively. Kentucky Wesleyan featured eight men’s student-athletes on last year’s roster.
