INDIANAPOLIS – Ohio Dominican women’s soccer student-athlete
Alli Pavlik (Cortland, Ore./Lakeview HS) was officially named the 2017-18 Great Midwest Athletic Conference Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year on Tuesday.
The year-end awards process for select individuals from the conference includes the Male/Female Collegiate Achievement Award (leadership/community service/athletics/academics), Male/Female Athlete of the Year (athletics) and Male/Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year (athletics/academics).
Voting is conducted among the league’s administrators from all 13 member institutions in the most current academic year.
Pavlik, a now-graduated senior forward, helped drive Ohio Dominican to the NCAA Championship Midwest Regional as the Panthers completed their maiden voyage through the Great Midwest conference schedule.
Only penalty kicks separated ODU from a conference tournament title in the program’s first appearance as the Panthers finished 16-5-2 overall and 11-2-1 in the Great Midwest. The Panthers were league runner-up in both the regular season and the postseason while earning an at-large selection into the national tournament field.
Pavlik scored both Ohio Dominican goals -- including the golden goal late in double overtime -- against No. 4 seed McKendree to help lift her team into the NCAA Championship Midwest Regional semifinal round.
Pavlik finished her senior campaign tied for fifth in goals in the conference with 11 and tied for seventh in points per game (1.47). At the regional level, she was recognized as a member of the United Soccer Coaches All-Midwest Region Team and landed on the Ohio Collegiate Soccer Association (OCSA) All-Ohio Team.
She was also named to the All-Great Midwest Second Team and came up clutch with six game-winning goals, ranking second in the conference, for head coach Aimee Haywood.
In the classroom, Pavlik was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-American First Team and All-District First Team in the fall after compiling a GPA of 3.98 while majoring in International Business.
She additionally earned a selection to the 2017-18 Great Midwest Academic All-Conference Team.
