INDIANAPOLIS - Trevecca swept both selections for Great Midwest Athletic Conference Men’s & Women’s Golf Athletes of the Week as announced Tuesday afternoon.
Teams are preparing themselves this spring season for the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Championships that will be held at Four Bridges Country Club in Liberty Township, Ohio, again this year.
Men’s Athlete of the Week

Lafeyette, TN (Macon County High School)
Whittemore has been the model of consistency for Trevecca this year, as he leads the conference in average scoring per 18 holes with a 71.2 in nine rounds played this year.
This past week was no exception as he won the Findlay Spring Invite by two strokes to lead Trevecca to a tie for sixth in the meet hosted by the Oilers.
He shot a first-round 69 (-3) followed by a 71 (-1) in the second round. The first round marked his third round this season shooting at least under a 70.
Trevecca has been strong as a team as well as they lead the Great Midwest in team scoring average with a 297.0 per round, which is an entire stroke ahead of Malone with one more round scored.
He also has the lowest round this season and in conference history with an 8-under par 64in the first round of the Mississippi College Invite.
Women’s Athlete of the Week
Rachael McMahan
Trevecca
Sophomore
Knoxville, TN (Farragut HS)
McMahan completed the sweep for the Trojans at the Phoenix Invitational in Old Hickory, Tenn.
The impressive sophomore finished tied for second after posting a consistent 76 (+4) in both rounds to finish 8-over par for the tournament.
McMahan has also paced the women’s team scoring for Trevecca as she is second in the conference behind Findlay’s Makenzie Torres 18-hole scoring at 77.1.
McMahan’s best round of the 2017-18 season so far was an even par 72 at the Great Midwest Fall Invitational.
The Trojans placed seventh as a team in the competition this past week as they look for their sixth consecutive women’s trophy at the Great Midwest Championship later this month.
