INDIANAPOLIS - The first Great Midwest Athletic Conference Men’s Tennis Athlete of the Week of the new calendar year was announced on Wednesday afternoon by the league.
With three different schools in action, Hillsdale sophomore Charlie Adams (Knoxville, TN/Bearden HS) had a performance that stood out above the rest. This is the second time this season that Adams has been named conference athlete of the week.
He helped lead the Chargers to a victory over Daemen at home on Friday, 8-1. Hillsdale was picked first in the Great Midwest Men’s Tennis Preseason Coaches Poll with 15 points and three first place votes, narrowly edging out Walsh for the top spot.
Adams went 2-0 in the event against Daemen. He started off with a victory in the No. 2 Singles spot with a 6-4, 6-0, win over David Gonzalez Villegas. He then joined Justin Hyman in doubles to take down Jose Williamson and Fabian Wilde 8-2 to cap off the event.
The victory improves the Chargers to 2-0 on the dual season.
