INDIANAPOLIS – Davis & Elkins’ Alistair Kyle and Trevecca Nazarene’s Alexa Rippy were named Great Midwest Athletic Conference Men’s and Women’s Golf Athletes of the Week on Monday.

Kyle turned in a runner-up performance while the Senators stormed their way to the team title at the Dr. Edwin B. Cottrell Invite hosted by West Virginia Wesleyan.

It represented D&E’s fourth team title of the 2016-17 season with head coach Ed Lothes. The Senators also finished first in the team standings at the Wally Edgell West Virginia DII Championship, Tazwell Invitational and Highlands Cup Challenge.

Kyle posted a two-day total of 148 (69-79), his best tournament score of the season. At the par-71, 6,644-yard Penn Oaks course, he was 6-over par for the tournament.

Through 20 rounds, Kyle now has a scoring average of 75.85, good for seventh in the league. His single round of 69 (-2) ranks among the G-MAC’s low 18-hole scores this season.

Rippy earned women’s honors yet again after earning medalist honors at the Phoenix Invitational with a two-round score of 142 (-2).

She posted a season-best 69 (-3) in the first round and her 73 in the second round still ranks among her top scores this year.

The accomplished senior now has a scoring average of 75.4 through 16 rounds of play, easily tops in the conference. She has a share of the top five single-round scores carded around the conference in 2016-17.

Rippy has finished in first place four times this year, the top five six times and the top-10 in seven of her eight events entered in.

The senior from Clarksville, Tenn., will lead the Trojans to the G-MAC Golf Championships next week at Four Bridges Country Club with aspirations of a fifth consecutive team title.
