INDIANAPOLIS – Larken Whittemore is the latest Treveca Nazarene men’s golfer to earn the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week Award. Whittemore paced the Trojans to a second-place finish at the rain-shortened Mississippi College Invitational at the Lake Caroline Golf Club.
The Lake Caroline course played to a par of 72 over 6,835 yards and is located in Madison, MS. The 13 teams and 69 individuals played 36-holes on Monday, but only nine on Tuesday due to rain.
Whittemore tied for 8th (2-over par) overall. The sophomore shot two-over 74 in the first round, one-over 73 in the second round, and a one-under 35 during the nine-hole final round. Whittemore recorded a 182, two-over par), total for the event.
Whittemore finished with a 3.96 (-1) average on the par four holes which is good enough for fourth overall at the event.
Whittemore produced 10 birdies with his play and tied for 8th most of the 69 golfers. Whittemore finished fourth on the par four holes and seventh on the par five holes.
Five of his six rounds this season have been 75 or lower and his only score above that mark is a 78. His 73.69 average (1.69 over par) this season is the best on the Trojan roster.
