INDIANAPOLIS – Malone and Findlay both received recognition for Great Midwest Athletic Conference Men’s & Women’s Golf Athletes of the Week that were announced on Tuesday afternoon.
 
The Findlay women had a record-breaking performance at the Dayton Fall Invitational, setting a Great Midwest 18-hole scoring team record and a new tournament team scoring standard in 36-hole format.
 
Malone also won a team title at the Phipps Memorial with Walsh in a three-team field.
 
Men’s Golf Athlete of the Week
Jarrod Kasunick
Malone
Sophomore
Massillon, OH (Canton Central Catholic HS)
 
For the second time in his career, Kasunick earned conference weekly honors after earning medalist honors at the Phipps Memorial, a one-round event in Canton.
 
Kasunick fired an even-par 71 at Brookside Country Club in a field of 40 individuals. He was able to beat out teammates Kyle Barnett and Jacob English, who each tied for second.
 
The Pioneers beat Mount Union and Walsh in the team standings with a score of 300.
 
Kasunick, with three top-10 finishes in the fall alone, has now played in 11.5 rounds and has a scoring average of 74.87 that has him tied for 15th in the league.
 
 
Women’s Golf Athlete of the Week

Findlay

The Oilers toppled a field of Division I schools at the Dayton Fall Invitational in impressive fashion led by a ninth-place effort from Kniesly.
 
Findlay’s first-round score of 293 represents a new all-time Great Midwest 18-hole scoring record as a team and the Oilers’ cumulative 595 is also a new conference team tourney record.
 
Findlay beat Western Illinois by one stroke in the team scoring while also holding off Bowling Green State, Butler, IUPUI, Oakland, host Dayton, Northern Kentucky, Central Michigan, Eastern Illinois, Fort Wayne and Detroit Mercy.
 
Kniesly recorded rounds of 73 and 75 on the par-70, 5,826-yard setup at NCR North in Kettering, Ohio.
 
Findlay’s team scoring average is a league-leading 306.9 on the year in 7.5 rounds played. Kniesly now ranks fourth in individual scoring at 78.40 in a tie with Trevecca’s Rachael McMahan.
 
Findlay has possession of six of the top seven scoring leaders in the Great Midwest, paced by three-time athlete of the week Makenzie Torres.
