INDIANAPOLIS – With the fall season winding down, the Great Midwest Athletic Conference announced another set of men’s and women’s golf athletes of the week on Tuesday afternoon.
Kentucky Wesleyan and Findlay earned respective individual honors following competition at the Midwest Regional at Fox Run and the Beall Fall Classic.
Men’s Athlete of the Week

Kentucky Wesleyan
Sophomore
Roundhill, KY (Warren East HS)
Tooley was the individual medalist at the Midwest Regional hosted by Missouri-St. Louis at Fox Run. The sophomore emerged out a playoff to best a field out of 109 competitors for his first collegiate tournament title.
Under first-year head coach Ken Badylak, the Panthers are flourishing this fall, showing more than 16 strokes of improvement per round as a team compared to a year ago.
KWC finished seventh at the Midwest Regional out of 21 teams, all from either the Great Midwest, Great Lakes Valley Conference and Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
Tooley finished with a two-round total of 143 (71-72) before forcing a playoff with Drury’s Craig Stefaurak. Stefaurak held a three-shot lead going into the final round of play.
With an eighth-place finish at the Otter Creek Invitational, the talented sophomore now has two top-10 placings so far this year. He lowered his team-leading scoring average to 73.76 in 8.5 rounds played and currently ranks ninth in the league.
Women’s Athlete of the Week

For the third time in the fall season alone, Torres received athlete of the week recognition for another strong performance, this time at the Findlay-hosted Beall Fall Classic.
Torres matched her season-best round with an even-par 72 in her final round as she finished tied for seventh overall.
Out of 14 teams, Findlay placed fifth as Torres finished with a two-day total of 149 (77-72).
Torres remains the league leader in scoring average at 74.36 while three of her teammates also rank in the top five (Samantha Hatter, Samantha Kellstrom, Meredith Whipper) Great Midwest scoring leaders with averages better than 80.
Torres has placed in the top 10 in all three Oilers’ events this fall and owns a 197-15 record (.929) against competition head-to-head.
