GREENWOOD, Ind. - Davis & Elkins junior Vincent Hamon was named the third Great Midwest Athletic Conference Men’s Tennis Athlete of the Week for the 2015-16 spring season.
Hamon was also selected for conference weekly honors earlier this month back on March 1.
He continued his solid play on a neutral court against Midwest Region opponents in the Senators’ spring break journey to South Carolina.
D&E faced King, Michigan Tech (GLIAC), Saint Joseph’s (GLVC), Northwood (GLIAC) and Roosevelt, in order.
Hamon triumphed in four consecutive singles matches in the No. 1 position to close the trip.
Hamon pulled out a 12-10 tiebreaker in the single game third set vs. Northwood’s top player, Sebastian Equez. He also gritted out a second-set tiebreaker vs. Roosevelt’s Kasper Lemiesz.
Hamon won in straight sets vs. Saint Joseph’s Reid Imel and was lead Mario Neto of Michigan Tech before the match was declared final due to retirement.
His doubles partner for most of the year, Tristram Spitsnaugle, helped combine for a 4-1 record in the five matches.
This season, Hamon is both 7-2 in singles and 7-2 in doubles while the Senators have played a total of 10 matches this season.
