CLEVELAND – Angela Tressel, the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Associate Commissioner for Internal Operations, has been announced as a National Association for Athletics Compliance (NAAC) award winner as presented by Bluechip Athletic Solutions.
Tressel was named the recipient of the 2015 Division II Excellence Award and she will accept in person at the NAAC Convention on Monday, June 15, at the World Center Marriott Resort in Orlando, Fla.
The Division II Excellence Award is NAAC’s most prestigious award for Division II compliance professionals. Recipients display exceptional leadership and unique vision for compliance initiatives, as well as demonstrating a commitment to furthering the compliance profession.
“The 2014-15 academic year has provided me with exciting opportunities and professional challenges that have strengthened my understanding and vision for how I want to continually shape my career path as an administrator within collegiate athletics,” said Tressel. “I hope to continue learning from others within NAAC, the Great Midwest Athletic Conference, and the NCAA while also assisting in highlighting the benefits provided and offered by working in the Division II compliance profession.”
With the G-MAC, Tressel’s visionary leadership includes overseeing and enhancing the G-MAC compliance program, assisting conference members with NCAA and G-MAC regulations, overseeing the G-MAC Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and serving as the G-MAC SWA.
In addition to serving as chair of the NAAC Division II Committee, Tressel is also an active member of the National Association of Women Athletics Administrators (NACWAA).
Also, in January 2015, Tressel was appointed to serve on the NCAA DII Legislation Committee and currently sits on the NCAA DII Softball Midwest Regional Advisory Committee.
“I want to congratulate this year’s award winners and thank those individuals that took the time to nominate deserving individuals for the 2015 NAAC Awards,” said NAAC Membership and Awards Committee Chair Jody Sykes, senior associate AD/chief compliance office at the University of Oregon. “We commend the efforts of this year’s recipients for everything they have done for the compliance profession and NAAC as a whole and we look forward to honoring their achievements at the 2015 Convention.”
