GREENWOOD, Ind.
– The respective Great Midwest Athletic Conference Men’s & Women’s Golf Championship medalists, Alistair Cameron of Davis & Elkins and Alexa Rippy of Trevecca Nazarene, led the way on the 2014-15 all-conference teams.

Cameron and Rippy both led all individuals at the G-MAC Golf Championships at Four Bridges Country Club in Ohio and were each selected as G-MAC Player of the Year.

A combined tally among the league’s head coaches calculated voting for this year’s all-conference men’s and women’s golf teams.

Under the direction of head coach David Head, the Trevecca Nazarene men’s and women’s programs both went on to clinch their third consecutive G-MAC golf titles at the two-day event.

Head was honored with G-MAC Women’s Golf Coach of the Year honors while Cedarville’s Zach Brown brought home G-MAC Men’s Golf Coach of the Year accolades for the Yellow Jackets.

Respective G-MAC Freshman of the Year award recipients were Seth Vannoy of Alderson Broaddus and Summer Newsome of Kentucky Wesleyan.

Cameron excelled in the midst of whipping winds swirling on the course excess of 40 mph while carrying a six-stroke lead through the first two rounds of play.

He eventually led the Senators at the tournament with an impressive 54-hole total of 229 and held a wire-to-wire lead in the race for medalist contention.

Cameron was joined on the all-conference team by nine other deserving men’s golf student-athletes around the league, including two from the G-MAC champion TNU Trojans (Aaron Burnett, Spencer Scarbrough).

Runner-up Alderson Broaddus had three represented with Vannoy, individual runner-up James Jeffries and Jay Schiffbauer. Cedarville placed John Sandlas and Jacob Forsythe while Kentucky Wesleyan (Patrick Schirmer) and Ohio Valley (Jorge Herrera) were both represented.

Rippy qualified for the NCAA Division II Women’s Golf Championship East Super Regional as an individual and more than validated her selection with a strong three-day showing on the links in Illinois at Cog Hill.

Rippy became the first G-MAC golfer, men or women, to compete at the national championship level as an at-large selection.

The four Trojans’ starters in the G-MAC Championship lineup made the all-conference team: Rippy, junior Kaylon King, junior Mikayla Dodson and junior Marlee Stecker.

On paper, TNU will be returning all four with Rippy just a sophomore.

Ursuline had four on the all-conference team including Eadoin Cronin, Chasey Rotondo, Talia Trovato and Ashley Rideout. Ohio Valley’s Lindsey Osborne and Alderson Broaddus sophomore Julia Heser also made the all-conference team.

A total of 10 women’s golfers were named to the all-conference team.
