2014-15 G-MAC All-Conference Men's Tennis Team

GREENWOOD, Ind.
– Davis & Elkins sophomore Vincent Hamon highlighted the 2014-15 All-Great Midwest Athletic Conference Men’s Tennis Team as announced by the league.

The league’s coaches voted Hamon, a native of Saint Barthelemy, France, as the G-MAC Player of the Year for the second consecutive year as the Senators successfully defended their inaugural conference title.

D&E’s Otis Cutshaw was also tabbed by his conference colleagues as the G-MAC Coach of the Year for two years running. The G-MAC Freshman of the Year award went to Jon Class of Cedarville.

Hamon was joined on the All-G-MAC First Team by teammates Charles Brunel, Simon Meriau and Thomas Judd.

G-MAC runner-up Cedarville was represented by four student-athletes on the G-MAC first-team ballot including senior John Filcik, sophomores Ryan Shomo and Joel Clark along with Class.

Hamon was 9-7 overall while playing the top singles flight in head-to-head competition for all 16 matches. He was the 2013-14 G-MAC Player of the Year and G-MAC Freshman of the Year as well.

The French product also teamed up to win five different doubles bouts paired with various partners, the majority with Tristran Spitsnaugle.

Hamon won six out of seven singles contests in an impressive streak spanning early March to mid-April. He was 15-3 overall while anchoring the D&E singles lineup as a freshman.

Cedarville’s Filcik and Shomo each racked up double-digit singles win totals while Class was versatile in filling singles positions 2 through 5 at various points during the year.

As a rookie, Class accumulated nine wins, including four at the No. 3 position. Shomo, now a two-time first team all-conference pick, was the G-MAC Athlete of the Week early on while D&E’s Brunel also garnered league weekly honors.

Filcik played the No. 1 slot all year for the Yellow Jackets and compiled a 10-10 overall record.
